Personal Gear Notes
Gear Drop Off – Remember your gear will leave with the gear truck on Monday July 11th, so gear will need to be dropped off on either Saturday July 9th or Sunday July 10th.
NO GEAR WILL BE CHECKED IN ON THE PLANE. You will be allowed to bring a carry-on, usually this is your daypack.
Remember this trip is for 12 days and 11 nights camping (sorry no hotels) so plan according for the gear to help you get through 11 nights.
Large Duffels – are recommended for general gear.
The quantities on the check off sheets are recommended, you can bring what you want or don’t want. We will only do laundry 1 time during the trip.
Cold temperatures – Nights can be down in the upper 40’s and days can be up in the 80’s, please plan accordingly.
Backpacks – Are only for the backcountry trip, please keep smellables (including food and personal hygiene products) out of these bags. You can store items that will be for the backcountry in your packs.
Personal tents are allowed for Adults. Please note this is at your own risk. Last time we did have damage due to animals to tents.
Camp Chairs will only be allowed if there is space in the gear truck.
Backcountry common gear will be decided amongst the group please refer to your backcountry leaders for exactly what you will need to carry.
Electronics will be allowed but with certain conditions. Be aware that it is at your own risk if they get lost or damaged the troop is not responsible. Also scouts are expected to “see and experience” this trip and not have their head down in their Ipod.
Scouts will not be allowed to keep gear in their tents; Scouts will be allowed to have their sleeping bags, pads, pillows and the change of clothes for the next day. This is mainly for not attracting animals to their tents. At no time should food ever go in a tent!
Medicine – Scouts should turn in all medicine (prescription and over the counter) to the leaders, they should not keep any medicine in their own personal bags. Adults will be allowed to keep medicine in their own personal belongings. Only immediate use medicine (like inhalers); will be allowed to be kept by scouts.
White Water – Any glasses (sun or regular) will need straps during the trip. Participants will need to wear swimsuits & t-shirts or something else that will be comfortable wet and sneakers or water shoes that can get fully saturated. The rafting company will provide life jackets and water booties & wet suits (if needed and requested).
LABEL EVERTHING!
